Commemorating Martin's 175th Anniversary, and honoring Elvis Presley's contribution to rock and roll that boasts 149 songs on the Billboard "Hot 100 Pop Chart" alone, Martin made certain that this guitar would be special. It features a solid Adirondack spruce top that was selected expressly for its brilliant, powerful tone. Rare Madagascar rosewood is used on the back and sides, contributing to the D-28 Elvis Presley Limited Edition's rich sound. Small pearl-bordered abalone star position markers are inlaid along the fingerboard, and finer black and white inlay lines highlight the soundhole rosette and purfling.

Elvis Presley's D-28 stood out with its unique tooled leather guitar cover that Charles Underwood created for him. This D-28 is outfitted with a tooled leather guitar cover that's based on Underwood's design, and comes with a special Geib hardshell case that's designed to house both the guitar and this special cover. Apart from delivering that signature Elvis "look," this D-28 also features a mother of pearl and black pearl inlay on the ebony headstock, just above the nut - this inlay is modeled after a famous 1956 photograph of Elvis and his Martin guitar. Additionally, the black Micarta heelcap features Presley's "TCB Lightning Bolt" logo inload in mother of pearl that originated with the "Taking Care of Business" pendants Elvis gave to his friends.
