Roy Smeck, a popular recording star of the 1930s, joined the Gibson Artist lineup with two Roy Smeck Hawaiian Guitars in 1934. The Roy Smeck Radio Grande was the deluxe model, with rosewood back and sides and fancy fingerboard inlay.
